From
her graceful swan-like Filmy moves to her
uber-cool hip-hop moves, Naina is easily one
of the most talented dancers on Masti!
Apart from being the team’s president, an
extremely organized person, and super sweet
n sexy, Naina is also one of most fun people
to chill with.
Rajeev
Saxena ENG'10
While Rajeev may be our vice-president he
is actually a man with many professions, including
photographer, lady-killer, and our playboy.
While Jeevies isn’t busy flexing his muscles
for Varun and Neal to swoon over, he is tearing
it up on the dance floor. Mastering every
style of dance, from hip hop to bhangra to
bharatnatyam, Jeevies is definitely Masti’s
very own Renaissance Man.
Sal
Dhanani WH'09
This
afrocanpak is quite the charmer both on the
dance floor and off. With his dazzling eyes
and winning smile, this suave playboy has
melted the hearts of many.
A true "cowboy" at heart, he is
sure to sweep any lucky lady off her feet,
and if that doesn't work there's always his
yummy pancakes!
Shincy
Shegu C'09
Hailing
from the fine city of Philadelphia, Shincy
Shegu is our hip-hop meets Bollywood girl.
She likes anything with a good beat and can
drop it like its hot. Short, sweet, sulty,
and sophisticated, she is a great fan of men
with muscles. Fortunately, for her, that excludes
every Masti boy except for Rajeev (and Varun).
When she’s not dancing, Shincy enjoys classic
Bollywood films like Benny Lava, running cross
country, ballin’ it up, watching Scrubs, kicking
back with friends, reminiscing about the good
ol’ days, and doing the bird for hours at
a time.
Tanvi
Goel WH'10 ENG'10
Super smart, super sexy, and
super "me-so-(censored)", Tanvi
Goel is simply a dance machine. Hailing from
the Dubai, Dallas, Dehli, and other any place
that you can think of that starts with a "D",
she brings a tremendous amount of energy to
Masti every practice and performance. She
enjoys long walks on the beach, anything Bollywood,
and stalking guys whose names start with "N"
and end with "eal".
Also affectionately called Tanvers or Tango,
Tanvi is our choreographer on crack--- just
let her loose, and you've set off a whirlwind
of spins, jumps, twists, and twirls, all perfectly
positioned in rhythm and ready to be used
for Masti's next dance, all in a matter of
seconds. Whheeee, it's Tanviiii!
Asavari
Gupte WH'10 C'10
Asavari Gupte, aka A-Sav, is a two year member
of Penn Masti. Leaving the sunny shores of
California (where people still think it is
cool to say "hella"), Asavari came
to Penn to be in the Vagelos program. With
her unique style, piercing green eyes, and
awesome dance moves, A-Sav is a force to be
reckoned with.
Aside from all-star academics, A-Sav is also
one of the best female choregraphers on the
team! With signature moves such as the hip-hip
butt shaker (it sounds bad buts its tiiiiiiight),
A-Sav has got it going on.
Jigar
Sitapara C'10
Our
resident raas king and bhangra master, Jigar
always has a big smile on his face. He almost
always manages to wake up for weekend practice,
but he makes up for his random absences by
choreographing bhangra pieces in his head
in class.
Now that he’s finally back in Philly we are
all looking forward to learning the raas piece
that he choreographed, forgot, and then choreographed
again. We love our Jigs!
Heather
Rizvi C'10
Heather ‘BAM!” Rizvi is best known on the
team for her stylish filmy choreography, dazzling
smile, and love of Potbelly sandwiches.
Straight from Chi-town (and by Chi I don’t
mean China Tanvi), Heather has the gracefulness
of a Bollywood goddess along with the gangsta-ness
of a true Chicago balla’. Just don’t get her
choreo-ing too fast or it’ll be BAM BAM BAM
before you know it!
Varun
Balan
ENG'10 C'11 WH'12 NURS '13 MBA'20
Varun is a very talented newbie. Not only
can he impress everyone with his dancing,
but he’s also very good at playing the tabla.
Affectionately known as Crush, Varun has some
amazing Pythons, a.k.a. his muscles, that
everyone in Masti is in awe of (even the other
boys hee hee).
Hailing from Colarado, Varun is a big fan
of snowboarding and tennis. Varun is a prankster,
especially during Masti practices. One time
we caught him crawling on the floor with his
arms in Sona’s boots. Now we know how to get
the animal out of him...
Sona
Parikh C'11
She's got bling in her name, style in her
talk, She lights up the dance floor, and walks
the walk, Don't talk smack about the Pistons,
with her that's just dicey Don't be hatin'
on Taco Bell, cause this girl is spicy, But
don't get the wrong idea, she's sweet as can
be, More sweet than her favorite Jamba Juice
smoothie,
Last one to leave the club, a true party girl
at heart, She's got so much Masti in her life,
the reading's off the chart.
Neal
Modi WH'10
This
native Chicagoan is one of the newest and
smoothest members of Masti. One of the nicest
guys around, Neal is always ready to talk
about anything and everything – even in the
middle of an intense practice! In addition
to his lively conversational skills Neal is
Masti's resident expert on the C-Walk, whether
it be the crip walk or the creep walk (ask
him to show you!).
The combination of Neal's light-hearted, fun
loving nature and his amazing ability to choreograph
any song make him an indispensable part of
Masti!
Manika
Garg WH'11 ENG'11
As a Wharton-Engineering major who can orchestrate
entire bharatnatyam pieces on the fly, Manika
Garg is the prototypical Masti genius. She
wars with her counterpart, Tanvi Goel, for
the 'Most Graceful of Masti' award.
When she's not enticing the Masti boys with
her traditional yet scintillatingly sensual
moves, Manika enjoys eating ice cream while
watching 'I Love Lucy,' playing tennis, anything
related to Winnie the Pooh, shopping at Cerritos,
and doing homework.
Aman
Rampuria ENG'09 C'09
This
stellar dancer will catch your eye with his
sharp skills and charming smile. That is,
if you can draw that smile out of him first!
Not only is his dancing is hot; you should
see his dress style!
